Vintage Walnut Veneered Two Door Wardrobe by Wilkin Furniture (c.1960)
A charming mid-century walnut veneered wardrobe by Wilkin Furniture, dating from around 1960. Beautifully designed with a warm walnut finish, decorative gilt detailing and a cleverly arranged interior, making it both practical and full of character.
The wardrobe stands on elegant proportions and features two doors fitted with decorative handles. The original lock is present and supplied with a working key. The veneer retains a lovely rich colour throughout, with only very minor chips, mainly towards the lower rear edges. There are some age-related blemishes to the wood at the top of the doors, together with the usual small marks and knocks expected from over sixty years of use.
Inside, the wardrobe is thoughtfully laid out. The left-hand side offers a full-height hanging section with a hanging rail, additional hooks and a shoe rack below. The right-hand side features a mirrored cupboard with open storage behind, while beneath are three fixed shelves, each retaining their original labelled compartments marked ‘Sundries’, ‘Socks’ and ‘Underwear’. The rear of the right-hand door also includes a tie rail and the original stud holder, adding to its period charm.
A wonderful compact wardrobe with excellent storage and plenty of original features, ideal for a bedroom with a vintage or mid-century style.
