Vintage Wilkin Walnut Fitted Wardrobe
A very attractive vintage walnut wardrobe by Wilkin Furniture, with particularly striking walnut grain to the front and a wonderfully practical fitted interior.
The wardrobe has a pair of full-length doors with shaped detailing to the top and decorative metal escutcheons and handles. Both doors open and close correctly, and the original key is present with the lock working as it should.
Internally, the wardrobe is cleverly divided into two sections. The left-hand side provides full-length hanging space with a hanging rail and a lower shoe rail. The right-hand side has four fitted shelves, complete with charming original labels for Socks, Pyjamas, Shirts and Underwear. The inside of the right-hand door also incorporates a small tie rail and stud holder – lovely surviving period details.
The original Wilkin Furniture label remains inside.
Condition: Solid and sturdy overall. The exterior sides are generally in good condition with a couple of small marks consistent with age and use. There are also some marks around the lower plinth. The doors operate well and the wardrobe retains a lovely warm colour and highly figured grain. Please see photographs for full details.
