Vintage Queen Anne Style Walnut Bureau – Northampton Cabinet Company
A handsome vintage walnut bureau by the Northampton Cabinet Company, London, featuring particularly attractive figured walnut veneers and an elegant Queen Anne inspired design.
The bureau stands on beautifully shaped cabriole legs and has a fall-front writing section above three generously sized drawers. The front is finished with matching traditional brass handles, giving the piece a lovely classic appearance.
The fall front opens to reveal a fitted interior with two small drawers, multiple open pigeonhole compartments and a leather inset writing surface, providing useful storage as well as a practical workspace.
The bureau retains its original maker’s label for the Northampton Cabinet Company, London E.11. A key is present and operates both the fall front and the drawers.
Overall, the bureau is in good vintage condition. The top and sides present very well with only light age-related wear. There are some marks around the keyhole on the fall front, which are quite typical from use over the years, along with general minor marks and signs of age throughout.
