Vintage Oak Fitted Gentleman’s Wardrobe
A characterful vintage oak fitted gentleman’s wardrobe, offering an impressive amount of organised storage within a relatively compact footprint.
The wardrobe has a lovely warm colour and attractive grain, with decorative detailing to the top and ornate matching door handles. The interior retains many of its original labelled fittings, giving the piece plenty of period charm.
The left-hand section provides a half-width hanging rail, wooden tie holder and lower foot/shoe rail. The fitted right-hand section includes a stud holder, mirrored cupboard with internal shelf, two drawers labelled for shirts, and further shelving originally labelled for pyjamas and sundries.
The doors open and close and the original key operates the lock, although the mechanism can be a little fiddly. The right-hand door occasionally requires a gentle push when opening; alternatively, the lock can simply be left in the open position.
Overall a solid wardrobe in good vintage condition. There are some age-related blemishes to the sides, a scratch towards the bottom of the left door and some light veneer chipping/wear around the base and lower sides. There is also evidence of historic woodworm to the rear of the bottom right foot, which has been treated.
