Vintage Oak Dome Top Bureau Bookcase

A charming vintage oak bureau bookcase with an attractive domed top, warm oak grain and a lovely traditional design. Combining a glazed display cabinet, fall-front writing desk and useful drawer storage, this is a practical and characterful piece of furniture.

The upper bookcase features two glazed doors opening to reveal three adjustable shelves, ideal for displaying books, ornaments or collectibles.

Below, the fall-front bureau opens to reveal a leather-inset writing surface with internal storage compartments and a small drawer. The base provides two further drawers, each fitted with decorative handles, while the turned front supports and shaped stretcher add to its traditional appearance.

A solid and sturdy piece with a lovely aged finish.

Condition

In good overall vintage condition, with some age-related wear and the following points to mention:

• The key operates the upper glazed doors but not the writing section.

• The upper left door sits slightly further in than the right, although both doors open and close satisfactorily.

• The leather writing surface has a small raised or bubbled area.

• There is a slight split to the lower left side panel.

• The drawers and fall-front writing section operate satisfactorily.

• There are different handles to the drawers that don’t match - a pair to the top drawer and a pair to the bottom.

The bureau separates into two sections for easier transportation.
