Vintage Figured Walnut Bureau
A handsome vintage figured walnut bureau of elegant proportions, combining decorative presence with practical function.
The fall-front opens to reveal a charming fitted interior, complete with pigeonholes and a central cupboard, creating an organised and characterful writing space. The writing surface is finished in leather, adding warmth and authenticity. The leather remains intact, with a small section lifting which could easily be secured if desired.
Below sit two drawers fitted with decorative metal handles, complementing the rich tone of the walnut. The bureau stands on graceful cabriole supports, giving the piece a lighter, refined stance.
The walnut displays a lovely natural figuring and has developed a pleasing patina over time. There are marks and areas of fading consistent with age and use, all blending sympathetically into the character of the piece.
There are signs of historic worm to the back panel. This is inactive and the piece has been thoroughly treated for reassurance.
