Vintage Art Deco Oak Double Wardrobe
Vintage Art Deco Oak Double Wardrobe – W.H. Snout & Son, Shrewsbury
A handsome vintage oak veneered double wardrobe, dating from the Art Deco period and retaining its original retailer’s label for W.H. Snout & Son, House Furnishers, Shrewsbury.
The wardrobe has a lovely warm oak colour with particularly attractive grain across the two large doors. Subtle geometric detailing to the upper corners and reeded decoration along the base give it a restrained Art Deco character without being overly ornate.
The double doors open to reveal a spacious full-width interior with a long hanging rail, additional hanging hooks to the rail, sides and back, plus a useful full-length mirror fitted to the inside of one door.
Constructed as a single-piece wardrobe, so please check access carefully before purchasing.
Overall in good vintage condition with age-related wear. There is a blemish towards the top of the left-hand door which is mainly noticeable in certain light, along with a small slither of missing veneer at the very bottom of the left door near the centre join. There is also some general wear to the sides, particularly towards the lower left-hand side. These points have been photographed and are reflected in the price.
A characterful and practical period wardrobe offering generous hanging space and a particularly attractive oak finish.
Condition: Good vintage condition with cosmetic wear consistent with age – please see photographs.
