A magnificent Victorian walnut triple compactum, exceptionally well-made and presenting beautifully with rich colour, burr-walnut veneers and striking architectural detail. This is an impressive statement piece of late 19th-century furniture design, produced by the quality makers Johnson & Appleyards Ltd., Sheffield (maker’s label present inside).

Stunning Walnut & Burr Walnut Construction:
Glowing Victorian patina, beautiful burr figuring and deep, warm tone throughout.
Triple Door Front:
Two full-length bevelled mirror doors to the left and right.
Ornately carved central door with arched panelwork and decorative foliate carving.
 
Lower Section:
Two large full-width drawers with original decorative brass handles.
 
Right-Hand Interior:
Three sliding, shaped tray drawers.
Triple brass hook rail fitted to the ceiling of the compartment.
 
Left-Hand Interior:
Large hanging space with a sturdy, full-width brass rail.
 
Comes Apart for Transport:
Breaks down into four sections, making it far easier to move given its size and weight.
 
Condition Notes
Beautiful overall condition with a rich, even colour.
Small veneer losses and a chip to the lower right back section (as pictured).
General age-related marks consistent with a wardrobe of this period, but very solid and ready for use.
Doors and drawers operate well.
