Victorian Oak Bound Travellers Chest
Victorian Travel Trunk – Antique Steamer Trunk with Original Travel Labels
A charming Victorian travel trunk, full of character and history, with an olive-green exterior, timber reinforcing battens and aged metal fittings.
The trunk features decorative corner protectors, traditional catches, leather carrying handles and a central lock with a working key.
Particularly interesting are the surviving historic travel labels, including references to the White Star Line, New York to Liverpool, London and the Great Eastern Railway (G.E.R.) at Liverpool Street. These add considerably to its appeal as a decorative period piece.
Inside, the trunk retains its patterned lining and a removable compartment tray, providing useful storage. The lid opens and remains supported.
The trunk is in good antique condition, with expected wear, marks and ageing throughout. One leather side strap is broken but retained inside the trunk, while the opposite side retains its strap and historic labels.
A wonderful statement piece for a living room, bedroom or hallway, ideal for use as a decorative storage chest or characterful coffee table.
