Victorian Mahogany Table with Rexine Top and Brass Border
Victorian Mahogany Table with Rexine Top and Brass Border
Victorian-era mahogany table featuring a single drawer at one short end, which is accented with a simple turned knob. The top is covered in rexine—a leathercloth material commonly used in the 19th and 20th centuries—framed with a brass border that runs the entire perimeter.
The rexine surface exhibits signs of age, including a few small holes, some bubbling in certain areas, and general wear. The colour is unusual, appearing deep red or even slightly purple depending on the light. There are some colour run marks along the sides, but the table has developed an appealing, worn-in patina overall.
Solid in structure with well-turned legs and a good, sturdy feel.
