Victorian Golden Oak Library Bookcase
Victorian Golden Oak Library Bookcase
A fine late Victorian golden oak library bookcase of compact proportions, displaying a rich golden hue and lovely patina. The moulded cornice features a neat egg-and-dart frieze above a pair of arched glazed doors, which open to reveal three fully adjustable shelves — ideal for books or display.
The lower section offers practical storage with a pair of frieze drawers and panelled cupboard doors below, all standing on shaped bracket feet.
Solid, sturdy and full of character, this is a well-made and beautifully balanced piece. It separates in two for ease of movement.
There are a couple of water ring/marks to the top surface (visible in the photographs). The drawer knobs are later replacements, decorative and functional. There is some fading to the bracketed feet.
