Very Large Vintage Gold Decorative Wooden Frame
An impressive and substantial very large vintage gold decorative frame, featuring wonderfully ornate raised detailing throughout.
Constructed from wood, the frame has an elaborate design incorporating scrolling foliage, floral and shell-style motifs, with particularly decorative corners and central detailing. Its rich gold finish and generous proportions give it plenty of presence and make it an ideal statement piece.
The frame is being sold without mirror glass or artwork, making it perfect for someone looking to create a spectacular large wall mirror or to frame a substantial painting, print or other artwork.
It is currently fitted with hooks to the reverse for horizontal / landscape hanging, although these could easily be repositioned to allow the frame to be displayed vertically in portrait orientation.
Condition: Solid and sturdy overall with general signs of age and previous use. There are some small areas of wear and rubbing to the gold finish, revealing the reddish ground beneath in places, as shown in the photographs. This is relatively minor and, in our opinion, adds to the aged character of the frame rather than detracting from its appearance.
At an impressive 171cm wide when hung horizontally, this is a particularly striking decorative frame and would look superb above a fireplace, console table or sideboard, or converted into a large statement mirror.
