Pair of Late 19th Century Mahogany Framed Chairs
Pair of Late 19th Century Mahogany Framed Chairs
An attractive and well-proportioned pair of late 19th to early 20th century mahogany framed chairs, retaining their original dark gold/mustard velvet upholstery with decorative braided edging.
The upholstery remains in good overall condition, with only minor loosening to sections of the braiding which could easily be secured if desired. The rich colour tones sit beautifully against the warm patina of the mahogany frames.
The frames display typical signs of age and use including light scuffs and surface wear. One chair shows evidence of old chew marks to the rear left leg, along with some historic, stable splits to the timber in places — all commensurate with age and adding to the authentic character of the pieces.
Both chairs are solid and sturdy, standing on their original castors, and retain a pleasing decorative crest rail detail to the backs.
A handsome and characterful pair of antique chairs, ideal for period interiors, country homes, or as statement occasional seating.
