Near Pair of Victorian Mahogany Open Armchairs
Near Pair of Victorian Mahogany Open Armchairs
England, circa 1860
A refined near pair of Victorian mahogany open armchairs, each with a beautifully raked button-back flowing into elegantly down-swept arms terminating in graceful scrolled ends. The serpentine seats are generously proportioned and stand upon turned, vase-shaped forelegs and plain back-swept rear supports, all raised on castors for ease of movement. (Not all castors match).
A superb example of 19th-century English craftsmanship, displaying the poise and comfort characteristic of the mid-Victorian period. Subtly differing in height (98cm and 100cm), the pair retains excellent presence and symmetry — ideal for a drawing room, study, or refined interior setting.
Condition: Excellent antique condition, with rich colour and patina commensurate with age.
