A handsome and substantial two-part wardrobe from the Siesta range by N. H. Chapman & Co. Ltd, noted furniture makers of Newcastle, Alnwick & Carlisle. Crafted in richly figured mahogany, this piece exemplifies mid-20th-century British cabinetmaking at its most confident — a faithful Georgian revival design combining elegance with solid practicality.
The wardrobe is composed of a deep hanging section above an eight-drawer chest, the two parts separating for ease of movement and transport. The upper section is crowned with a boldly moulded cornice and a distinctive fret-cut frieze, lending the piece a quietly architectural presence. The lower drawers retain their original brass handles and run smoothly within a sturdy carcass of excellent construction.
The interior provides generous hanging space with a full-width rail, while the drawers below offer capacious storage for linens or clothing. The warm glow of the timber, enhanced by a recent professional polish, highlights the fine grain and colour variations that only age and careful use can achieve.

Excellent overall. Minor marks consistent with age and use. There is a very small split to the point - hardly noticeable and doesn’t detract from the piece - see photographs. Splits into two sections for ease of transport.
