Late Regency Mahogany & Ebony Line-Inlaid Bow Front Chest of Drawers

A handsome late Regency mahogany bow front chest of drawers, dating to the early 19th century, with beautiful warm colouring, elegant ebony line inlay and a wonderfully rich patina developed over more than 200 years.

This attractive antique chest features four graduated drawers, each retaining its original brass ring handles and decorative mother-of-pearl key escutcheons. The gently bowed frontage gives the piece an elegant shape, while the ebony line inlay provides a subtle decorative contrast against the beautifully figured mahogany.

The chest stands on shaped bracket feet and offers generous storage across its four spacious drawers, making it a practical and characterful addition to a bedroom, dressing room or traditional living space.

A lovely example of late Regency furniture, retaining the charm and individuality that comes with genuine age.

Condition

In good, solid antique condition, with wear and imperfections consistent with its considerable age.

• All four graduated drawers retain their original brass handles.

• Attractive mahogany grain, warm colouring and a lovely aged patina throughout.

• Some small sections of decorative trim and moulding are missing around the top and drawer fronts.

• A section of wood is missing from the rear right foot, although the chest remains stable and sturdy.

• Historic age-related cracks to the sides, typical of furniture of this period.

• General surface marks, scratches and wear accumulated over many years.

Despite these imperfections, the chest remains a substantial and attractive piece of antique furniture with excellent storage potential.

Please study the photographs carefully, particularly those showing the areas of wear and historic damage.
