Hand Made Blonde Maple Bureau 
A beautifully made blonde maple bureau, offering an unusual combination of quality craftsmanship, attractive detailing and practical storage.
The bureau features a fall-front writing surface supported by two pull-out lopers, with an attractive inlaid motif to the exterior of the fall. The lock is working and the bureau comes complete with its key.
Opening the bureau reveals a particularly well-fitted interior, with seven small drawers, various pigeonholes and compartments, together with a concealed central drawer. The writing surface is inset with brown leather with decorative gilt tooling around the edge, showing some light wear consistent with use.
Below are four spacious drawers, all running well and fitted with traditional brass handles.
An interesting detail is a small “Leslie Butters” label inside the bureau. We have been unable to establish whether this refers to the maker or the person for whom the bureau was originally commissioned, so it is mentioned for interest without attribution. Two old Polaroid photographs of the bureau are also present, which appear to date from around the time it was made.
Condition: Solid, sturdy and well made throughout. There are some small marks and signs of previous use, particularly to the writing surface. There is also some reddish colouration visible towards the ends of the top; similar colouring can be seen within the bureau, suggesting this may be a natural variation or characteristic within the timber rather than staining. Please refer closely to the photographs for condition.
A handsome and distinctive piece that would work equally well as a functional writing bureau or an attractive feature piece in a bedroom, study or living space.
