Georgian Oak Two Door Livery Cupboard
Georgian Oak Two Door Livery Cupboard
A highly desirable Georgian oak two door livery cupboard, full of period charm and untouched character. A wonderfully honest example, resting on bun feet and displaying the rich colour, surface wear, and deep patina that only genuine age and long use can produce.
The cupboard retains its original rustic appeal, with panelled twin doors, early iron hinges and latch furniture, all contributing to its strong country house presence. We have intentionally left the piece largely in its natural state, as this is very much how collectors and decorators prefer to find them.
As expected with a piece of this age, there are numerous signs of wear including marks, bumps, chips, shrinkage, and historic repairs, all entirely consistent with centuries of use and adding to its authenticity. There is evidence of historic woodworm, now inactive and treated as a precaution.
Internally the cupboard has several later brass-coloured metal pegs fitted across the width, making it practical for hanging or storage use.
A substantial, solid and heavy piece of furniture, increasingly sought after for use in period homes, hallways, kitchens, bedrooms, or as a statement storage cupboard.
