French Vernis Martin Style Vitrine
French Vernis Martin Style Vitrine – Louis XVI Revival
A superb French beechwood and gilt-metal mounted Vernis Martin style vitrine, dating from the mid to late 20th century, in the refined Louis XVI manner.
The serpentine glazed door, framed by ornate gilt-bronze mounts, opens to reveal a beautifully lined interior with two glass display shelves and a richly patterned silk-style backing. Below, a hand-painted Vernis Martin type panel depicts a romantic courting couple in a pastoral landscape, executed with characteristic warmth and detail.
Set on short cabriole legs terminating in gilt-metal sabots, this piece exudes Parisian elegance and is ideal for displaying fine porcelain, objets d’art, or treasured curiosities.
