Edwardian Burr Walnut Fronted Drawers
Edwardian Burr Walnut Fronted Drawers
An attractive Edwardian two-over-two chest of drawers with burr walnut veneered drawer fronts, retaining its original decorative brass handles.
The chest stands on short turned supports terminating in castors, giving it a pleasing stance and allowing for easy movement. Originally, this piece would most likely have formed part of a dressing table, evidenced by the small fixing holes to the top where a mirror section would once have been attached.
The drawers offer good, practical storage and the chest is solid and sturdy throughout, with a reassuring weight and feel. The burr walnut fronts display a lovely colour and patina, with the surface wear adding to the overall character of the piece.
There are age-related issues consistent with use: splits to the wood on the right-hand flank, clearly shown in the photographs, along with surface marks to the top, including a prominent ring mark. These are all reflected in the price and do not detract from the functionality or overall appeal.
Condition: Solid and sturdy with age-related wear
Drawers: Two over two configuration
Handles: Original decorative brass
Supports: Turned feet on castors
Notes: Evidence of former mirror attachment; splits to right-hand flank; marks to top
A characterful Edwardian chest with good proportions, useful storage, and a warm, time-earned patina, suitable for a wide range of interiors.
