Edwardian Satinwood Chest of Four Drawers

A characterful Edwardian Satinwood Chest, offering generous storage and plenty of genuine age and rustic charm.

The chest features two short drawers over two full-width drawers, each with large decorative brass handles. The handles are later replacements rather than original to the chest.

The piece is solid and sturdy overall and has a wonderfully warm, aged finish. There are various marks, scratches, discolouration and signs of previous use throughout, all contributing to its authentic country-house appearance.

The top has more noticeable wear and damage, particularly towards the left-hand side, together with old fixing holes which suggest the chest may originally have had an attached mirror or dressing-chest superstructure.

There is historic woodworm, particularly visible to the top and sides. This is inactive and has been treated. The sides show areas of discolouration and there are what appear to be old filled screw holes towards the base on each side.

This is very much a piece for someone who appreciates original, timeworn furniture rather than a highly restored finish. It would work particularly well in a rustic, country, cottage or vintage-inspired bedroom.

Condition: Solid and sturdy with considerable age-related wear, marks, scratches, discolouration, historic treated woodworm and evidence of previous alterations, as described and shown in the photographs.
