Edwardian Mahogany Upholstered Window Seat / Small Settee
 
 
A charming and elegant Edwardian mahogany upholstered window seat / small settee, with a lovely curved form and raised on slender mahogany legs with castors.
 
 
The piece has a solid mahogany frame, which remains sturdy and gives this settee an excellent foundation for either continued use or future reupholstery.
 
 
Currently upholstered in an attractive patterned fabric with a very pale green/gold tone. The upholstery has considerable age and character but does show a number of areas of wear and marking.
 
 
There is noticeable discolouration and staining across the upper section of the back, as pictured. To the back left-hand side there is a tear/opening where the fabric has come loose, while the right-hand side appears to have had an older upholstery repair.
 
 
To the seat there is a ring-shaped patch/mark towards the left, together with a darker linear mark centrally on the front-facing backrest. There is also some fraying and general wear around the front edge of the seat.
 
 
Despite the upholstery condition, the mahogany frame remains solid and sturdy, making this a particularly good candidate for professional reupholstery. Finished in a new fabric, it could make a wonderful statement piece.
 
 
Ideal as a bedroom window seat, hallway settee, dressing-room seat or occasional sofa.
 
 
Please study all photographs carefully as the existing upholstery has staining, discolouration, wear, repairs and areas of damage. We feel this piece would be particularly well suited to reupholstery/refurbishment.
