Large Ebonised Folding Screen / Room Divider
An unusual and decorative ebonised folding screen with gilt detailing and large glazed upper panels. Heavy and solidly made for its size, this striking piece would work beautifully as a room divider, hallway screen or decorative statement piece.
The lower panels feature elegant gilt linework and corner motifs to the front side, with matching gilt detail continuing up the frame. The large upper glass panels help keep the piece light and open in appearance despite its substantial construction.
There is a pin fitting to the top of one section, suggesting the piece may originally have formed part of a larger installation such as shutters, a room divider system or possibly a door arrangement.
Condition:
General age-related marks, scuffs and wear throughout consistent with age and use. The screen does not fold completely flat, though it closes almost fully. Overall structurally solid and very decorative with plenty of character.
