Early Heavily Carved Oak Hexagonal Centre Table
Early Heavily Carved Oak Hexagonal Centre Table
A wonderful early heavily carved oak centre table, full of character and displaying a rich aged patina throughout.
The hexagonal top features an attractive carved border, complemented by extensive decorative carving around the deep frieze. Raised on substantial turned and carved supports, the table also features a shaped lower tier with further carved detailing.
The oak has developed some lovely variations in colour and tone over the years, particularly across the tabletop, giving the piece a beautifully authentic aged appearance.
A very decorative and imposing piece that would make a superb centre table, occasional table or statement side table in a period or traditional interior.
Condition:
Solid and sturdy overall with age-related wear and character consistent with an early piece. There is a section of wood missing from the lower tier, as pictured. One of the feet has a very old metal bracket repair, but remains solid. Evidence of historic woodworm is present and has been treated. The tabletop is generally in good condition for its age, retaining a lovely patina and varied shades of oak.
