Early 20th Century Walnut Veneered French Style Armoire
Early 20th Century Walnut Veneered French Style Armoire
An exceptionally elegant French walnut wardrobe of impressive scale and presence, richly veneered throughout with striking book-matched grain and enhanced with delicate gilt decorative detailing. A beautifully proportioned piece with a warm, lustrous patina that has developed over time.
The wardrobe is of three-section construction and dismantles easily, essentially forming a flat-pack. The largest components are the two end towers, which are relatively narrow, making transportation and access into properties far more straightforward. The central mirrored door is a swivel door and can also be removed if required.
A single original key operates all doors smoothly.
Internal layout:
• Left-hand tower: Two small hanging rails
• Centre section: One full hanging rail, three
adjustable shelves, and three base drawers
• Right-hand tower: Two small hanging rails
and four adjustable shelves
The adjustable shelves can be reconfigured between both side towers, offering excellent flexibility for storage.
The wardrobe is finished throughout in walnut, with gilt detailing to the frieze and corners, and displays a very elegant overall appearance.
There are minor signs of historic woodworm to the base, which have been fully treated and are no longer active. Overall condition is very good, with only light age-related wear consistent with a piece of this quality and age. There are small pieces of veneer missing here and there - but nothing major to note.
A refined and practical statement wardrobe, combining beauty with functionality.
