19th Century String Inlaid Bow Fronted Mahogany Chest Of Drawers
This exquisite 19th century string inlaid bow front mahogany chest is a stunning example of antique craftsmanship, featuring a timeless design that combines elegance with practicality. The chest boasts a beautiful bow-fronted shape and intricate string inlay, adding a touch of sophistication to any room. The piece is thoughtfully designed with three small drawers over three long drawers, providing ample storage space for a variety of items, from clothing to collectibles.
The top two drawers feature three-section compartments, perfect for organizing smaller items and adding extra functionality to this already impressive piece. The chest also includes unusual sprung drawer knobs, a distinctive feature that enhances its unique character and charm.
Made of rich mahogany, the chest has a lovely patina that reflects its age and history, giving it a warm, inviting presence. There are some marks to the too, small chips to the veneer on the drawers and veneer back leg has all the veneer missing. The four central key locks have the mother of pearl inlay missing. Despite these few issues, these imperfections only add to its antique appeal, showcasing the piece’s genuine age and character.
There is evidence of historic worm which is inactive and has been treated and in no way affects the integrity of the piece.
This strong and sturdy chest offers excellent storage capacity and would be a beautiful and practical addition to any home, blending vintage appeal with modern functionality. Whether placed in a bedroom, hallway, or living area, it’s a true statement piece that will be appreciated for years to come.
