17th Century Oak Deuddarn Court Cupboard

A rare and imposing 17th century oak Deuddarn court cupboard, showcasing centuries of craftsmanship and history.

This substantial piece is constructed from solid oak, giving it remarkable weight and presence. It does not dismantle, reflecting its original construction and durability. The cupboard has developed a rich, timeworn patina, with areas of historic worm, consistent with its great age, adding to its authenticity and charm.

One particularly intriguing feature is the carved “TB” initials on the top right of the front panel — possibly denoting an original owner, craftsman or a later addition.

Features:

  • Upper section: Two cupboard doors with decorative carvings, opening to a connecting open space behind.

  • Lower section: Two large cupboard doors enclosing a spacious interior fitted with a single wide shelf.

  • Front: Finely carved decorative panels, typical of the period’s bold style.

This cupboard is a true statement piece of early oak furniture — rich in history, character, and craftsmanship. Perfect for collectors of period furniture, interior designers seeking authenticity, or anyone looking to add a striking 17th-century presence to their home.
