Victorian Parisian Walnut Hall Stand
This magnificent 19th-century French carved walnut hall stand exudes timeless elegance and craftsmanship. Featuring beautifully decorative brass coat hooks, the stand is both functional and striking in its design. The intricately carved panels add a layer of artistry to the piece, showcasing the exceptional skill of the craftsmen from the period. The stand retains its original, large, bevelled oval mirror, which reflects light and enhances the overall grandeur of the piece. Below the mirror, the hall stand features a luxurious Rouge de France marble top that adds a touch of sophistication and classic beauty. Below this is a single drawer furnished with a decorative metal handle. Flanking the drawer are two sweeping brass supports affording space for walking sticks and umbrellas. The original drip trays are in situ.
The hall stand’s imposing size and majestic presence make it a statement piece in any entryway or hallway, creating a sense of grandeur and refinement. Its exceptional quality of workmanship is evident in the delicate detailing and classical proportions, making it a perfect example of fine 19th-century French furniture. The stand has developed a beautiful patina over the years, further enhancing its charm and authenticity.
Although in remarkable condition overall, it is important to note that there is a small piece of trim missing from the top right-hand corner, which does not detract from the overall beauty and character of the piece. Originating from the Paris area circa 1880, this hall stand is an extraordinary example of French craftsmanship, offering both functionality and an air of sophisticated history.
